Each year, we face the challenge of filling the many essential roles on committees, councils, and task forces that impact decisions at Palomar College. These groups shape the policies and initiatives that guide the college’s future, and we need your participation to ensure that CCE members’ voices are heard.

One of the most impactful ways to get involved is through Shared Governance. This is where decisions about the college’s direction are made. Your input is vital to shaping those decisions, and your involvement directly influences policies that affect both the college community and our union.

4. Get Involved with CFT or AFT 

As a member of CCE, you are also part of larger organizations that influence state and national policies for education and labor rights: the California Federation of Teachers (CFT) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). These organizations offer additional opportunities to get involved and make a broader impact.
 

• CFT Involvement:
The California Federation of Teachers works on issues ranging from advocacy for educational policy to labor rights. By getting involved with CFT, you can contribute to efforts that influence legislation and support the rights of workers across the state.


• AFT Involvement:
The American Federation of Teachers plays a crucial role in national labor issues, from negotiating contracts to advocating for higher education funding. Joining an AFT committee allows you to make a difference on a national scale.
 

By participating in the efforts of CFT and AFT, you’ll help amplify the voice of CCE members and advocate for change both locally and nationally.
